Sterjo Spasse (14. august 1914 – 12. septembar 1989) bio je albanski prozni pisac i romanopisac.

Život

Sterjo Spasse rođen je 1914. u Globočanima, općina Pustec, oblast Korča u Albaniji, i bio je makedonskog porijekla.[1] Spasse je pohađao osnovnu školu u Korči, a kasnije srednju skolu u Elbasanu. Radio je kao učitelj u Dervičanu, u regiji Dropula,[2] a zatim je otišao na Sveučilište u Firenci u Italiji, gdje je studirao pedagogiju. U Sovjetskom Savezu magistrirao je iz književnosti. Nakon Drugog svjetskog rata radio je kao književni kritičar i književnik u pedagoškim časopisima Nova škola (alb. Shkolla e re) i Narodno obrazovanje (alb. Arsimi popullor), kao i Naša književnost (alb. Literatura jonë) i Novembar (alb. Nëntori). Bio je član Albanskog udruženja književnika i umjetnika.[3] Spasse je umro u Tirani u Albaniji 1989. godine.

Djelo

Uz različite doprinose na pedagoškom polju i prijevode, glavno mu je polje djelovanja bilo kreativno pisanje, koje je započelo 1930-ih. Objavio je četiri zbirke kratkih priča i deset romana.[3] Spasseov roman Zašto...? (alb. Pse...?, 1935) smatra se možda jednim od najvećih albanskih romana s početka 20. stoljeća.[2] Za vrijeme Drugog svjetskog rata napisao je roman Afërdita (1944), gdje lik seoske učiteljice svladava sve prepreke okupatora. Nakon rata produbljuje tu tematiku romanima Oni ne bijahu sami (Ata nuk ishin vetëm, 1952) o bijedi seoskog života u Zoguovo vrijeme, Afërdita ponovo na selu (Afërdita pësëri në fshat, 1955) o predratnoj učiteljici nakon oslobođenja, Vatre... (Zjare..., 1972) o socijalističkoj izgradnji zemlje te Buđenje (Zgjimi, 1974) o razdoblju nacionalnog preporoda Albanaca.[4]
