康普顿雷龙（属名：Comptonatus，意为“康普顿的雷鸣者”）是鸟脚类恐龙的一个属，生存于早白垩世，遗骸发现于英国威塞克斯组。模式种兼唯一种是蔡氏康普顿雷龙（C. chasei）。

发现与命名

正模标本IWCMS（英语：Dinosaur Isle） 2014.80于2013年9月至10月间在去年发现一具旷野龙标本的地方附近出土。它是继1914年曼特尔龙之后怀特岛上发现的最完整鸟脚类恐龙。[1][2]

康普顿雷龙于2024年被描述为禽龙类恐龙新属新种。属名Comptonatus组合地名康普顿湾（英语：Compton Bay）与拉丁语tonatus（意为“打雷的”），可释义为“康普顿的（制造）雷鸣者”，指其发现地点及庞大体型。种名chasei致敬已故的2018年古生物学协会（英语：Palaeontological Association）玛丽·安宁奖得主兼标本发现者尼克·蔡斯（Nick Chase）。[1][3]

分类

将康普顿雷龙纳入系统发育分析，其中使用了同时期布赖斯通龙描述中的数据集。[4]分析发现本属与禽龙、重髂龙及曼特尔龙共处同一演化支，四者均发现于怀特岛且皆属禽龙科。分析中的分支图如下：[1]

古生态学

康普顿雷龙是怀特岛发现的几种禽龙类之一，且与禽龙、布赖斯通龙及曼特尔龙均不同。威塞克斯组沉积物可能横跨数百万年，故本属不可能与所有其它分类单元同期共存。威塞克斯组拥有温暖半干旱的地中海气候，是在冲击曲流平原的基础上形成的。泛滥平原北部高地的森林由松柏门、银杏、蕨类及苏铁组成。森林大火和洪水经常发生，导致植物碎屑层的形成。[4]
