巨禽龍（屬名：Iguanacolossus，意為「鬣蜥巨像」）又譯鬣蜥巨龍，是一屬禽龍類的鳥腳亞目恐龍，生存於白堊紀早期的北美洲。對其的瞭解來自正模標本UMNH VP 20205，是一個大型個體的部分骨骼。[1]

發現及命名

巨禽龍的正模標本UMNH VP 20205於2005年由唐納·德布留發現，從猶他州雪松山組的黃貓段挖掘出來，年代可追溯至白堊紀早期巴列姆階。直到2010年，才由安德魯·麥當納、詹姆士·柯克蘭（英语：James I. Kirkland）、德布留、史考特·麥德森、珍妮佛·卡文、安德魯·米爾納和盧卡斯·潘扎林與馬龍屬於同一論文中正式命名、敘述。UMNH VP 20205標本是個單一個體，包含頭骨材料：前齒骨碎片、部分右上頜骨、右鱗狀骨、牙齒、左右方骨；身體遺骸：脊椎（頸椎、胸椎、尾椎）、人字骨、肋骨、右肩胛骨、右髂骨、右恥骨、右蹠骨和左腓骨。屬名Iguanacolossus由美洲鬣蜥屬（Iguana）加上拉丁語的「巨人、巨像」（colossus）組成，象徵著禽龍類具識別性類似鬣蜥的牙齒，以及標本顯著的巨大體型。種名fortis意為「強大」。因此二名法意為「強大的鬣蜥巨人」。[1]

從杜林的碗化石點找到的額外標本，現正在進行重新檢視中。主要由少年體的下頜和肱骨組成，其他遺骸還有一個巨大的股骨和恥骨。[2]

敘述

巨禽龍是種大而健壯的禽龍類，可能身長達9公尺，或接近禽龍的體型，估計體重介於1至4噸。[3]葛瑞格利·保羅（英语：Gregory S. Paul）估計身長9公尺及體重5噸。[4][1]根據麥當納和同事，巨禽龍與其他禽龍類的不同之處在於：後視彎曲的鱗狀骨中後突有個和上枕骨的接觸面；恥骨頭突背緣凹陷但頭端擴張幅度小；鱗狀骨眶後突內側壓縮並呈葉片狀；恥骨收縮至鈍點，頭端的髂骨髖臼前突變成水平向靴狀；中軸骨神經棘輪廓呈刀片狀及半圓形；髂骨背緣筆直。[1]

牠具有堅實的蹠骨、突出的腓骨長約63公分。上頜骨保存了14個齒槽（英语：alveoli），存在兩個凹面暗示著橢圓形、細長的眶骨窩。根據與彎龍、達科塔齒龍的比較，兩顆單獨的牙齒被歸至齒骨及上頜骨，分別有盾形及菱形的齒冠。肩胛骨幾乎完整。前齒骨保存了一個小齒（英语：Denticle (tooth feature)）。許多脊椎（尤其是胸椎）顯示身軀輪廓非常類似禽龍。兩個蹠骨被鑑定為第三和第四蹠骨，根據與彎龍、禽龍的比較。右恥骨同時顯示進階特徵及祖徵（英语：plesiomorphic），也可在其他有關的禽龍類觀察到。[1]

古生態學

巨禽龍是從雪松山組的黃貓段採集的，但這段又可分為上下兩地層，而巨禽龍出土於下層。在這裡牠與獸腳類的鑄鐮龍、雙子盜龍、郊狼龍、蜥腳類的米耶拉龍以及烏龜內奧米龜（英语：Naomichelys）、未定的稜角鱗鱷科共享棲地。[5][6]

上黃貓段的動物群則有：水鳥足跡；蜥腳類的雪松龍和莫阿布龍；禽龍類的雪松山龍和馬龍；獸腳類的瑪莎盜龍和猶他盜龍；節節龍科的加斯頓龍；烏龜雕面龜（英语：Glyptops）和三叉龜；魚類角齒魚（英语：Ceratodus）和旗背魚（英语：Semionotus）；未定的鯊魚弓鮫科和多蓋齒鮫科；[5]哺乳類西費利齒獸（英语：Cifelliodon）。[7]來自同岩層的其他未命名物種還有：具背帆的禽龍類、[8]真馳龍類和伶盜龍亞科、[9]稜角鱗鱷科、中真鱷類、[5]新離龍亞目。[10]
