Painting of Alaskan sinking. The sidewheel paddle steamer sank in a storm in the Pacific Ocean off Cape Blanco , Oregon , killing at least 21 people. Ten or eleven people reached shore after spending three days in a lifeboat and then swimming to shore, one of the survivors drowned in the attempt.[ 8]

The barque collided with Sutlej ( United Kingdom ) and then ran ashore at Camden Fort , County Cork , United Kingdom . She was refloated with the assistance of two tugs and taken in to Queenstown, County Cork .[ 5]
