Le 409e régiment d'infanterie (409e RI) est un régiment d'infanterie de l'Armée de terre française constitué en 1915 avec des blessés guéris et des jeunes soldats de la classe 1915 provenant principalement de la 9e région militaire (Tours).

Les régiments dont le numéro est supérieur à 400 sont des régiments de marche.

Création et différentes dénominations

  •  : organisation à Châtellerault du 409e Régiment d'Infanterie. Il est constitué de trois bataillons dont les éléments proviennent des dépôts de la 9e région militaire.
  • Son effectif à l'organisation est de 50 officiers et 3045 sous-officiers et hommes du rang.

Chefs de corps

  • Du au  : chef de bataillon puis lieutenant-colonel Auguste-Edmond Derdos.
  • Du au  : chef de bataillon de Larroquette (par intérim).
  • Du au  : lieutenant-colonel Ernest-Henri-Joseph Treillard[1].
