«The Way We Were» er en sang fra dramafilmen Våre beste år (1973) med Barbra Streisand og Robert Redford i hovedrollene.[1] Sangen ble skrevet av Alan Bergman og Marilyn Bergman, komponert av Marvin Hamlisch og spilt inn av Streisand.

«The Way We Were» ble en hitsang som toppet singellisten i USA. Den solgte til gull i USA med over to millioner eksemplarer. I 1998 ble låten innlemmet i musikkarkivet Grammy Hall of Fame, og i 2004 kåret det amerikanske filminstituttet sangen til den 8. beste filmlåten noensinne. Den vant både en Golden Globe og Oscar for beste sang, og fikk en Grammy Award for årets sang. Det ble også en av Streisands største hitlåter gjennom hennes 60 års lange karrière. Versjonen hennes ble kåret av Billboard til tidenes 90. beste låt.[2]
