Vinter-OL 2034 vil bli de 27. olympiske vinterleker og skal etter planen arrangeres i Salt Lake City i USA 10.–26. februar 2034.[1]

Valg av vertssted

Søknadsprosess

29. november 2023 meddelte IOK at Salt Lake City var invitert til dialogfasen som IOKs foretrukne kandidat for vinterlekene i 2034.[2][3][4]

I 2019 vedtok IOK en ny strategi for valg av søkere. Nytt var blant annet at flere regioner og land kunne søke sammen, og at valget av søkere skulle bli mer fleksibelt.[5][6]

Stakeholders

«Stakeholders» er IOKs nye betegnelse på søkere som via sine nasjonale olympiske komiteer har uttrykt interesse for å arrangere olympiske leker. Til Vinter-OL 2030 var det per november 2023 fire stakeholders:

Dialogfase

29. november 2023 anbefalte IOK at det skulle føres videre dialog med to søkere med tanke på både Vinter-OL 2030 og 2034:[7][8][9]

Dette betydde at Sveits og Sverige ikke lengre var aktuelle som arrangører for vinterlekene i 2030 og 2034.

Tildeling

Salt Lake City ble offisielt tildelt lekene 24. juli 2024 under IOKs 142. sesjon i Paris. De franske Alpene i Frankrike ble valgt som arrangør av Vinter-OL 2030 under samme sesjon.[10]
