Vinter-OL 2002 var de 19. olympiske vinterleker og ble arrangert fra 8. til 24. februar 2002 i Salt Lake City i Utah i USA. Norge ble beste nasjon for første gang siden Vinter-OL 1968 i Grenoble, men først etter at dopingtatte Johann Mühlegg hadde blitt fratatt sine tre gullmedaljer. Norge endte opp med tretten gull-, fem sølv- og syv bronsemedaljer.

Valg av vertsby

Salt Lake City ble valgt ved avstemning under den internasjonale olympiske komités 104. sesjon i Budapest i Ungarn 16. juni 1995. IOKs evalueringskomité valgte ut fire søkerbyer til den avgjørende avstemningen.[2][3]
