Sehingga Julai 2018, terdapat sejumlah 1,092 tapak Warisan Dunia yang terletak di 167 Negara Pihak (negara yang mematuhi Konvensyen Warisan Dunia), di mana 845 adalah budaya, 209 adalah semula jadi dan 38 adalah sifat bercampur.[1] Negara-negara telah dibahagikan oleh Jawatankuasa Warisan Dunia ke lima zon geografi: Afrika, Negara Arab, Asia dan Pasifik, Eropah dan Amerika Utara, dan Amerika Latin dan Caribbean. Negara dengan jumlah tapak yang paling banyak (termasuk tapak yang dikongsi dengan negara lain) ialah Itali, dengan 54 kemasukan.[2] Negara dengan tapak terbesar dengan sendirinya sahaja (tidak termasuk laman web yang dikongsi dengan negara lain) ialah China, dengan 53 penyertaan.[3]
