O ácido cerótico ou ácido hexacosanoico, é un ácido graxo saturado de cadea longa de 26 carbonos coa fórmula química CH3(CH2)24COOH[1][2]. Atópase sobre todo na cera de abella e na cera das follas da planta Copernicia prunifera (unha palmeira). É un sólido cristalino branco cun punto de fusión elevado (88 °C) debido á súa longa cadea insaturada[[3].

O ácido cerótico pertence ao grupo dos ácidos graxos de cadea moi longa que están a miúdo asociados á enfermidade adrenoleucodistrofia, na cal está implicada a excesiva saturación de ácidos graxos non metabolizados no peroxisoma, como o ácido cerótico.[4] Os seus niveis elevados no plasma poden estar asociados tamén con arteriosclerose[5] e síndrome metabólica.[6][7]
