Opći izbori u Bosni i Hercegovini 1998. održani su 12.- 13. septembra 1998. godine. Ovo su bili treći višestranački izbori u Bosni i Hercegovini od otcjepljenja od SFRJ, a drugi nakon završetka rata u BiH. Osim izbora za članove Predsjedništva Bosne i Hercegovine, birani su predstavnici za Parlament Federacije Bosne i Hercegovine, Parlament Bosne i Hercegovine, Narodnu skupštinu Republike Srpske i za Skupštine kantona, te Predsjednik Republike Srpske.

Predsjedništvo

Na izborima za članove Predsjedništva Bosne i Hercegovine, birana su tri člana, po jedan iz svakog konstituivnog naroda Bosne i Hercegovine. Bosna i Hercegovina je bila izborno podijeljena u dvije osnovne izborne jedinice: Federaciju BiH i Republiku Srpsku. U Federaciji BiH birao se član Predsjedništva iz reda bošnjačkog i hrvatskog naroda, u 86 izbornih jedinica, koje su predstavljale osnovne izborne jedinice, dok se u Republici Srpskoj, birao član Predsjedništva iz reda srpskog naroda u ukupno 63 izborne jedinice. Birači sa područja Federacije BiH, mogli su glasati ili za bošnjačkog ili za hrvatskog člana. Mandat članova je četiri godine.[1]

Od ukupno - registrovanih glasača, na izbore je izašlo 1.870.083 (-%). Od ukupnog broja glasova, važećih je bilo 1.726.233 (92,31%), a nevažećih 143.850 (7.69%).[2] Glasalo se odvojeno po entitetima, a iz Federacije Bosne i Hercegovine birano je 28 i iz Republike Srpske 14 predstavnika. Mandat predstavnika je bio četiri godine.

Predsjednik Republike Srpske

Od ukupno 845.909 glasačkih listića, 735.700 je bilo važećih glasova (86,97%), a nevažećih je bilo 110.209 (13,03%). Za predsjednika Republike Srpske izabran je Nikola Poplašen sa 322.684 (43,9%), kao predstavnik koalicije Srpske demokratske stranke i Srpske radikalne stranke Republike Srpske.[3]
