Die Duitstalige uitgawe van Wikipedia is op 16 Maart 2001 begin en is tans die 3de grootste aanlyn ensiklopedie volgens die aantal gepubliseerde artikels, na die Engelse en Cebuano Wikipedias.[1] Dit bevat tans 2 976 637 artikels.

Geskiedenis

Die Duitse Wikipedia was die eerste nie-Engelse Wikipedia wat geskep is. Dit is op 16 Maart 2001 deur Jimmy Wales aangekondig.[2] Die eerste bydrae op die Wikipedia word op 12 Mei 2001 gemaak.[3] Hoewel die Katalaanse Wikipedia eers later geskep is, was dit die eerste om nie-Engelse artikels te bevat.

Aantal artikels

Op 27 Desember 2009 het die Duitse uitgawe meer as 1 000 000 artikels gehad en op 19 November 2016 2 miljoen. 98% persent van die artikels het meer as 200 karakters gehad, 88% het meer as 512 grepe gehad, 42% was groter as 2 kB, en die gemiddelde artikel was 3698 grepe of 410 woorde lank.[4]
