^ League renamed from W-League after the 2020–21 season.
^ In A-League Women (as well as its male counterpart of A-League Men ), the term "champions" refers to the winner of the playoff tournament (known in Australian English as the "finals series") that follows the league season. The team that tops the league table is designated "premiers". This usage of "premiers" differs from other football codes in the country, which use that term to describe what the A-Leagues call "champions".
^ Replaced the top level of the Nadeshiko League as Japan's top league after the 2021 season. The Nadeshiko League now occupies the two levels below the WE League.
