Parktown is 'n voorstad van Johannesburg, Suid-Afrika. Dit is in Johannesburg se F-streek geleë. Parktown het met die aanlê daarvan die oorspronklike spogbuurte van die Goudstad, Doornfontein en Belgravia, vervang as die stad se mees gesogte buurt.

Villa Arcadia in Parktown, een van die voorstad se bekende herehuise, is oorspronklik in 1909 deur sir Herbert Baker en sy vennoot, Masey, ontwerp. Die argitek Joseph Solomon het die eienaar lady Florence Phillips met die binneversiering gehelp.

Parktown, wat aangelê is op die plaas Braamfontein, begin sowat 2 km noord van die Johannesburgse stadsaal en strek die hele ent van Empireweg noordwaarts tot amper by die Johannesburgse Dieretuin. Aan die oostekant word dit begrens deur Houghton en in die weste deur Westcliff. Dit het die onderskeiding dat dit die eerste voorstad is wat nie beplan is om soveel moontlik erwe te verkoop ten einde wins te maak nie, maar vir die gerief en gemak van sy inwoners. Die gebied is in 1891 opgemeet deur die Eckstein-group (Corner House) met kontoerpaaie en standplase van sowat 'n halwe hektaar elk en met straatserwitute in die titelaktes om die insypeling van handel of nywerheid te voorkom. So is dit beplan om die stad se voortreflikste voorstad te wees. Die huise op Houghtonrif het 'n onbelemmerde uitsig van 50 km tot by Pretoria en die Magaliesberg. Van die magtigste magnate het hier gewoon, onder wie sir J.B. Robinson, sir Lionel en lady Florence Phillips, kol. C.L. Andersson en sir George Albu.

Parktown se water het oorspronklik gekom van die fontein by Sans Souci en is gepomp na twee hoë staalwatertenks, 'n treffende baken tot hulle in 1908 afgetakel is. In 1901 het lord Alfred Milner in Sunnyside kom woon, 'n paleisagtig woning, nou 'n privaat hotel. Die eerste motorbusse in Johannesburg het in 1904 van Corner House na Parktown geloop.

In Pretoria is daar ook 'n woonbuurt genaamd Parktown. Dit is in 1903 gestig en is so 'n 5 km noord van Kerkplein.
