Dario Fo (24. mars 1926–13. oktober 2016)[1] var ein italiensk dramatikar og teaterregissør, scenograf, komponist, satirikar og skodespelar.

Virke

Fo revitaliserte commedia dell'arte-kunsten, og for det løna Svenska Akademien han med Nobelprisen i litteratur for 1997; «han som lik mellomalder-narrane refsar makthavarane og held oppe vørdnaden til dei undertrykte.»[2][3]

Dario Fo fekk gjennombrotet sitt i 1953 med revyen Il dito nell'occhio. I 1958 stifta han saman med kona Franca Rame teaterselskapet Compagnia Fo-Rame. Dei gjekk i 1968 inn i teaterkollektivet Nuova scena som var eit agitasjonsteater knytt til kommunistpartiet. Fo og Rame stifta teaterkollektivet La Comune i 1970.

Skjult teater

Ideen med skjult teater er å framføre scener eller situasjonar i det offentlege rom – til dømes i ein supermarknad, på ein busshaldeplass, i ei gågate – utan at det er annonsert på førehand. Målet er å sprenge dei kunstnarlege rammene for teateret og dra problemstillingane i stykket tilbake til den røyndomen dei kjem frå. På grunn av samfunnsrefsinga som ligg i Fo sine stykke blir dei ofte brukt på denne måten. Han sjølv blei fleire gonger arrestert på scena.
