ネーレウス (ギリシア神話の英雄)

ネーレウス（古希: Νηλεύς, Nēleus）は、ギリシア神話に登場する英雄である。ギリシア神話の神ネーレウスとは綴りが違う。長母音を省略してネレウスとも表記される。

ポセイドーンとサルモーネウスの娘テューローの息子で、ペリアースとは双子の兄弟。オルコメノス王イーアソスの子アムピーオーンの娘クローリスを娶り、12人の息子タウロス、アステリオス、ピュラーオン、デーイマコス、エウリュビオス、エピラーオス、プラシオス、エウリュメネース、エウアゴラース、アラストール、ペリクリュメノス、ネストールと、娘のペーローをもうけた。神にも劣らぬ知恵を持っていたとされる。ピュロスの建設者。

ペリアースとネーレウスの双子の兄弟は、生まれるとすぐ捨て子にされた。そこへ通りかかった馬飼いに養育されて二人は成長した。拾われるときに馬の蹄であざ（ペリオン）のつけられてしまったほうがペリアースと名づけられ、他方がネーレウスと名づけられたという。

成長して後、二人は争うようになった。ネーレウスはメッセニア地方に来て、ピュロスを建設した。

ネーレウスはクローリスを娶り、ネストールやペリクリュメノスなど12人の息子と娘のペーローをもうけたが、ヘーラクレースと敵対していた友との友情のためにヘーラクレースの願いをはねつけたため、ネストール以外の11人の息子をヘーラクレースに殺されてしまった。ネストールだけはまだ幼く、ゲレーニアーで育てられていたために無事だった。この時ネーレウスもヘーラクレースに殺されたとする説と、そうではなく、コリントスにて世を去り葬られたという説がある。
