略歴

女優になる前は、ボゴタの大学で広告を勉強していたが、2004年にアメリカ/コロンビア映画『そして、ひと粒のひかり』(ジョシュア・マーストン監督）に出演、お金のために麻薬の運び屋になる少女を演じて一躍注目されるようになる。彼女はこの作品で2004年のベルリン国際映画祭に銀熊賞（女優賞）、インディペンデント・スピリット賞の主演女優賞などを受賞。また、コロンビア人として初めてアカデミー主演女優賞にノミネートされた。

2006年に結婚^[1]。2009年にはニューヨークにて男児を出産した^[2]。
