מגפת הקורונה התפשטה לגאנה ב-12 במרץ 2020. מקרה ההידבקות הראשון בגאנה פורסם ב-12 במרץ 2020.[2][3]

התפרצות

ב-11 במרץ 2020, שר האוצר קן פורפי-אטטה הכריז כי תקציב המדינה יעמוד על כ-100 מיליון דולרים, ובהם תקצוב מיוחד שיסייע בהיערכות המדינה לקראת התפרצות מגפת הקורונה.[2]

גאנה דיווחה על שני מקרי ההידבקות הראשונים בה ב-12 במרץ 2020.[3] שני המקרים היו בקרב אנשים שחזרו למדינה מנורווגיה וטורקיה.[3] כמה ימים לאחר מכן, עלה מספר הנדבקים לשישה בסך הכול, תוך שפורסם כי יש מקרה חשוד נוסף במדינה. בעקבות כך, הוכרז על מצב חירום במדינה, תוך שהגבולות שלה נחסמו למעבר.[4]

ב-17 במרץ, דווח על מקרה ההידבקות השביעי במדינה אשר קרה באזור אקרה רבתי (אנ').[5][6] שלושה ימים לאחר מכן, עלה מספר הנדבקים במדינה ל-16.[7]

בשעה 21:00 פנה נשיא גאנה ננה אקופו-אדו לאומה והודיע על מקרה המוות ראשון במדינה; אדם אחד מת בעיר קומאסי. בהמשך אושרו שני מקרי הדבקות חדשים, כאשר מספר החולים במדינה עלה ל-21.[8] ב-25 במרץ, פורסם כי יש 93 חולים במדינה ו-4 מתים.[9][10]

ב-26 במרץ עלה מספר החולים ל-132. שבוע לאחר מכן, דווח על 205 חולים, 5 מתים ו-31 מבריאים.[11][12][13][14][15] בתחילת מאי 2020, דווח על 18 מקרי מוות, 2,169 מקרי הדבקה ו-229 מקרי החלמה במדינה. כמו כן, דווח כי ארבעה מתוך הנדבקים במצב קשה.[16]
