Natasha Vázquez Ruiz, nada en Moscova o 30 de abril de 1967[1] é unha xornalista e cineasta cubana de orixe galega.[2]

Ten dirixido e producido diversos documentais, a maioría relacionados coa emigración galega a Cuba, cos que gañou numerosos premios, entre eles a Medalla Castelao.

Traxectoria

Graduouse en Xornalismo Internacional no Instituto Estatal de Relacións Internacionais de Moscova en 1989 e traballou como xornalista en diversos medios de comunicación cubanos e internacionais como Radio Metropolitana e CHTV, da Habana, Televisión Cubana ou Sputnik.[3]

En 1998 dirixiu xunto a Rigoberto Senarega, o documental Caballero de la Habana, centrado na figura de José María López Lledín, alcumado El caballero de París. A partir do ano 2000 dirixiu para Televisión Cubana varios documentais como Repartiendo el corazón, que repasa a traxectoria de Frank País; La bella Otero, sobre a vida da Bela Otero; Y es bello vivir, sobre a esclerose múltiple; ou Madre del Alma, que afonda na relación de José Martí con súa nai.

En 2004 dirixiu con Ernesto Daranas Los últimos gaiteiros de La Habana, un documental sobre Eduardo Lorenzo, gaiteiro galego-cubano, e sobre a súa volta a Galicia. A ese documental seguíronlle outros dous sobre emigrantes galegos en Cuba, Fillas de Galicia (2005)[4] e Gallegos: oficio de emigrantes (2008), ambos con guión de Ernesto Daranas. Tamén en 2008 produciu o documental Peregrinos, de Daranas.[5] Polos seus documentais sobre emigrantes de Galicia, Natasha, Ernesto Daranas e Rigoberto Senarega, recibiron conxuntamente a Medalla Castelao no ano 2005, as últimas presididas por Manuel Fraga.[6][7]

En 2016 presentou o documental A Illa dos Galegos, como parte do proxecto Son galego, Son cubano, no que Roi Casal lle puxo música ás letras de Xosé Neira Vilas, e que contou tamén coa colaboración doutros artistas como Pablo Milanés ou Laritza Bacallao.[8][9]
