Ciudá de Méxicu[2] (embrivíu como CDMX y enantes de 2016 nomada Distritu Federal o D.F.) ye la capital de Méxicu (Estaos Xuníos Mexicanos) y sede de los poderes federales de la Xunión de la que constitúi una de les sos 32 entidaes federatives.

Ciudá de Méxicu ye'l centru políticu y económicu del país y ye, al mesmu tiempu, la segunda metrópolis más grande del mundiu, sólo dempués de Tokiu, (Xapón). Ciudá de Méxicu da-y una quinta parte del PIB nacional de Méxicu.

Enllena una décima parte del Valle de Méxicu nel centru-sur del país, nun territoriu que formó parte de la cuenca lacustre del llagu de Texcoco. Méxicu D.F. ye la ciudá más rica y poblada del país, con 9 209 944 habitantes (2020)[3][4], y asítiase nel segundu llugar como entidá federativa, dempués del estáu de Méxicu.

La ZMCM taba habitada nel 2005 por 19.331.365 persones, cuasi'l 20 per cientu de la población total del país. D'alcuerdu coles proyeiciones del Conseyu Nacional de Población (Conapo), pal 1 de xunetu del 2007 creyíase una población de 8.193.899 habitantes pa la ciudá, y de 19.704.125 habitantes pa tola la Zona Metropolitana.

L'Área Metropolitana de la Ciudá de Méxicu asítiase nel octavu llugar de les ciudaes más riques del mundiu al tener un PIB de 315.000 millones de dólares que se duplicará pal 2020, asitiándola nel séptimu llugar sólo dempués de Tokiu, Nueva York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Londres y París.
