Local elections will be held in Marilao, Bulacan on May 12, 2025 within the Philippine general election. The voters will elect the elective local posts in the municipality: the mayor, vice mayor, and eight councilors.
Background
After the death of former mayor Ricky Silvestre in 2022, his vice mayor Henry Lutao succeeded him and became the incumbent mayor. He will be running for his full term, with his main opponent being Atty. Jem Sy, an actress and president of the Jemina Sy Foundation, who previously ran for mayor in the 2019 and 2022 elections.[1]
For vice mayor, Bob dela Cruz, who came next to Lutao in succession, will be running for his full term against term-limited councilor Ariel Amador.
Results
The candidates for mayor and vice mayor with the highest number of votes wins the seat; they are voted separately, therefore, they may be of different parties when elected.
Election is via plurality-at-large voting: A voter votes for up to eight candidates, then the eight candidates with the highest number of votes are elected.
Incumbent Councilor Allane Sayo will run for his third term, while councilor William Villarica ran for a board member seat in the 4th district instead of his third term. Councilors Tito Santiago, Madel Jasa and Vanessa Valdez will run for their second terms, while councilor Andre Santos ran for representative of the 4th district instead of his second term. Councilor Luisa Silvestre, who filled the vacant seat after her husband's death, will run for her full term.
Returning politicians are former councilors Deby Espiritu-Reyes and Willie Diaz.[1]
