浮丘石，又叫浮丘島，是古时广州城西珠江中，浮露出水面的一个红色砾岩小丘，并按其形状取名为浮丘石。又说系浮丘丈人得道之所，故名。其与海珠石、海印石并称为羊城三石。舊日其四面環水，船舶縱橫。今在中山七路的东段。
晋代葛洪，傳說曾在浮丘山腳煉丹，留有“丹井”古迹[1]。
唐、宋时期为船只停靠之地。浮丘石上更根據浮丘公傳說，修築不少亭臺樓閣。后来由于河道淤塞，与周围陆地相连。宋朝时因丘下有井，称“浮丘丹井”。据宋初有位百岁老人陈崇义所述，其幼时所见的浮丘石，泊有舟船千艘[2]。
明萬曆年間，吏部尚書趙志皋被貶官至廣州擔任廣東副使，在浮丘島組織浮丘詩社，騷人墨客因此常到此吟詠[3]。
清朝时为羊城八景之一。
民国时因修路将浮丘石凿低作为路基，成为今天中山七路的一段。
宋代時，經略使蔣之奇就在島上建有朱明館、挹袖軒、白雲堂等；明趙志皋貶官到此後，在萬曆八年（1580年）建擴建大雅堂、紫煙閣、聽笙亭、晚沐軒，李鳳建就在1601年將整體擴建為廣仁觀。清改為浮丘寺，民國時期成為西禪警署的駐地，共和國後曾由西區人民法院使用，築馬路後寺觀都被毀不存[3][4]。
據《白雲粵秀二山合志》載，浮丘八景為“紫煙樓、晚沐堂、珊瑚井、大雅堂、留舄亭、朱明館、挹袖軒、聽笙亭”，間植荔枝、梅、竹等，仕宦詞客觴詠其間[1]。
