埃德加·麦克马尔科姆（中世纪盖尔语：Étgar mac Maíl Choluim；现代盖尔语；Eagar mac Mhaoil Chaluim；约1074年 – 1107年1月8日）是阿尔巴国王（1097年–1107年在位），绰号有普罗伯斯（Probus）和勇士（the Valiant）。[1] 他是马尔科姆三世（Máel Coluim mac Donnchada）和韦塞克斯的玛格丽特（后来为Saint Margaret）第四子但却是第一个继承王位的儿子。

统治时期

继1094年末，埃德加同父异母的长兄邓肯二世（Donnchad mac Maíl Coluim） 被他叔叔唐纳德三世·班（Domnall Bán mac Donnchada）的支持者默恩斯的馬爾彼得（英语：Máel Petair of Mearns）杀害后，埃德加可能在1095年之前开始自称王位的继承人。他的五兄埃德蒙却站在唐纳德一边，据推测老而无子的唐纳德可能以封禄并确立其做继承人为回报。[2]

埃德加像在他之前的邓肯一样，受到威廉二世（William Rufus） 的帮助十分有限，但是，英王忙于镇压可能支持唐纳德和埃德蒙的諾森布里亞伯爵（英语：Earl of Northumbria）莫布雷的羅伯特（英语：Robert de Mowbray）的叛乱。鲁夫斯于1095年的大部分时间都在英格兰北部征战。在此期间，埃德加仅仅取得了对洛锡安的控制。在这期间一个在达勒姆发布的宪章称呼他"... 苏格兰国王马尔科姆的儿子... 拥有洛锡安的全部领地和我主英王威廉父亲的遗产给的礼物、苏格兰的权力"。[3]

埃德加对王位的要求得到了他六兄鄧凱爾德主教（英语：Bishop of Dunkeld）埃塞雷德（英语：Ethelred of Scotland）、八弟亚历山大和九弟大卫的支持，而他五兄埃德蒙却和兄弟们相反站在唐纳德那边— 他的舅舅爱德加·阿德林在达勒姆见证了这一切。[4]

威廉·鲁夫斯于1096年花费了一年的时光在诺曼底对抗他的兄长罗伯特·科索斯，它直到1097年，埃德加得到了更多的支持并在一场恶战中，他的舅舅爱德加·阿德林击败他的叔叔唐纳德和五兄埃德蒙。[5]

虽然杰弗里·盖马尔声称埃德加没有向威廉·鲁弗斯称臣，但是从威廉·鲁弗斯的条约看，苏格兰每天向英格兰缴纳40-60先令并且埃德加出席英国法院。埃德加确实出席过英国法院，如在1099年5月29日，埃德加在威斯敏特斯会所担任剑骑手。威廉·鲁弗斯死后，埃德加不再出現在英国王庭，因为他没有参加亨利一世的加冕。[6]

按照长嗣继承制来看埃德加确实不是合法继承人，在他大哥邓肯二世死后留下一个合法的儿子威廉·菲茨·鄧肯（英语：William fitz Duncan）。[7] 在埃德加打败叔叔唐纳德和哥哥埃德蒙后，人民都支持他做國王，威廉也没有争夺王位的意愿。因而埃德加在位时没有什么危机，和他登上王位的事蹟相比，他当国王时期记载實在很少。其中一項記載是第一次十字軍東征时外国送给苏格兰一只 骆驼(或大象)。[8]

在1098年, 埃德加與挪威國王赤脚王马格努斯划定了苏格兰和挪威的边界。并将赫布里底群岛和金泰尔割让给马格努斯并承认了挪威在两地的合法地位。[9] 埃德加创办的宗教场所包括 1098年在科尔丁厄姆的修道院达勒姆修道院。在邓弗姆林修道院，他寻求坎特伯雷的安瑟伦将他的母亲封为圣人。而他可能将坎特伯雷里纪念他叔叔唐纳德·班的地方破坏。[10]

埃德加于1107年1月8日在爱丁堡驾崩，被安葬在邓弗姆林修道院。未婚无后的他立八弟亚历山大为他的继承者。埃德加也同时将"坎布里亚"（之前为斯特拉思克莱德王国的土地）授予大卫做封邑，也可能是洛锡安南部地区。[11]大卫后来被称为坎布里亚亲王。

关于他的死亡记述的矛盾

德里克·维塔利斯很难确定他的叔叔唐纳德三世结局如何。普遍认为他杀害了叔叔唐纳德三世，唐纳德三世也可能被他的弟弟亚历山大所杀。[12] 有人认为: "苏格兰国王马尔科姆三世死后，又进入了混乱的王位继承。儿子有继承优先， 但马尔科姆三世的弟弟唐纳德篡位并杀害了邓肯二世。最终埃德加登上王位后，为了给哥哥报仇杀害了唐纳德和哥哥埃德蒙。". [13]

本杰明·哈德森 认为唐纳德这些结局“完全是假的”。这些流传都是11世纪的人想象的。[12] 不过也有人认为唐纳德确实是埃德加杀害的。[14] 埃德加的哥哥埃德蒙是盎格鲁-撒克逊人圣玛格丽特和马尔科姆的儿子。而被杀害的邓肯是父亲与第一任妻子的儿子。为了争夺王位兄弟相残也不是没有可能。[12] 注意在阿尔斯特编年史 说埃德加为了给哥哥邓肯二世报仇杀了唐纳德或埃德蒙。[14]
