Nærøysund er ein kommune i Ytre Namdalen i Trøndelag fylke som blei oppretta den 1. januar 2020 ved då Vikna og Nærøy kommune blei slått saman.[2] Han har over 10.000 innbyggjarar. Kommuneadministrasjonen er delt mellom småbyene Rørvik og Kolvereid, som har 3 100 og 1 750 innbyggjarar kvar. Kolvereid er den minste byen i Noreg.


Nærøysund omfattar områda på begge sider av Indre Foldafjord og ut til Viknaøyene og det opne havstykket Folda. Hovudleia langs kysten går gjennom Nærøysundet, verna for havet. Den historiske handels- og kyrkjestaden på Nærøya har namn etter den norrøne havguden Njord.

Personar som kjem frå Nærøysund kommune blir kalla for nærøysunding.

Nærøysund er den største havbrukskommunen i Noreg, og ein stor fiskerikommune med sjømatføretak som til saman omset for over 6 milliardar kroner. Rørvik er den største fiskerihamna på Trøndelagskysten med 15 000 skipsanløp i året. Det finst reiarlag, leverandørindustri og faghandel for fiskeria og havbruket. Ytre Namdal videregående skole på Rørvik har fagtilbud innan blant anna fiske og sjøfart og ein maritim fagskole. Mange arbeidsplassar på Rørvik er også knytte til kunnskapsintensiv forretningsmessig tenesteyting. Jordbruket er ein viktig næringsveg i heile kommunen med den tredje største melkeproduksjonen i Trøndelag. Val videregående skole driv opplæring og oppdragsforsking innan jordbruk og havbruk.
