Алекса́ндр Миха́йлович Про́хоров; დ. 11 ივლისი [ძვ. სტ. 28 ივნისი], 1916, ათერტონი, ავსტრალია — გ. 8 იანვარი, 2002, მოსკოვი, რუსეთი) — საბჭოთა და რუსი ფიზიკოსი, კვანტური ელექტრონიკის ერთ-ერთი ფუძემდებელი, სსრკ მეცნიერებათა აკადემიის აკადემიკოსი (1966), პრეზიდიუმის წევრი (1970), ზოგადი ფიზიკისა და ასტრონომიის განყოფილების აკადემიკოს-მდივანი (1973). სოციალისტური შრომის გმირი (1969). სკკპ წევრი 1950 წლიდან. დაიბადა რევოლუციონერი მუშის ოჯახში. მამამისი რევოლუციური მოღვაწეობისათვის გადაასახლეს ციმბირში, საიდანაც შემდეგ გადავიდა ავსტრალიაში. პროხოროვმა დაამთავრა ლენინგრადის სახელმწიფო უნივერსიტეტი (1939). 1941–1943 წლებში საბჭოთა არმიაში იყო. 1946 წლიდან მუშაობდა სსრკ მეცნიერებათა აკადემიის ფიზიკის ინსტიტუტში (1954 წლიდან ლაბორატორიის გამგე, 1968 წლიდან — დირექტორის მოადგილე), 1959 წლიდან მოსკოვის სახელმწიფო უნივერსიტეტის პროფესორი, 1971 წლიდან მოსკოვის ფიზიკა-ტექნოლოგიური ინსტიტუტის კათედრის გამგე. 1969 წლიდან დიდი საბჭოთა ენციკლოპედიის მთავარი რედაქტორი. ნიკოლოზ ბასოვთან ერთად დაამუშავა კვანტური სისტემების საშუალებით ელექტრომაგნიტური ტალღების გენერირების პრინციპულად ახალი მეთოდი და ამიაკის კონის გამოყენებით შექმნა მოლეკულური გენერატორი — მაზერი (1954–1955). მისი შრომები ეძღვნება ინფრაწითელი და ხილული გამოსხივების მძლავრი ლაზერების შექმნას, არაწრფივ ოპტიკას, ნივთიერებასთან მძლავრი ლაზერული გამოსხივების რეზონანსულ და არარეზონანსულ ურთიერთქმედებას. მიღებული აქვს ლენინური პრემია (1959), ნობელის პრემია (1964). იყო ამერიკის მეცნიერებათა და ხელოვნებათა აკადემიის წევრი (1971). დაჯილდოებულია 2 ლენინის ორდენითა და მედლებით.
