Amar en tiempos revueltos é unha telenovela ambientada na época da guerra civil española e nos primeiros anos do franquismo. Está inspirada pola serie de TV3 Temps de Silenci, producida tamén por Diagonal TV. Empezou a emitirse en La 1 diariamente desde o 27 de setembro de 2005 e durante sete anos permaneceu en emisión ata o 16 de novembro de 2012.

A primeira tempada ambientábase nos sucesos que ocorreron entre os anos 1936 e 1945. A segunda tempada comprende o período de 1945 a 1948. A terceira comeza no verán de 1948, a cuarta transcorre a partir de 1950 e a quinta tempada comeza o 1 de abril de 1952. A sexta tempada ten lugar durante os anos 1954 e 1955 e a sétima tempada comeza en xullo de 1956 e esténdese ata o ano 1957.

En 2012, a produtora Diagonal TV rompeu o acordo que mantiña con Televisión Española.[1] Este feito provocou que a serie orixinal finalizase en TVE e que se crease un spin off titulado Amar es para siempre, que iniciou a súa emisión o 14 de xaneiro de 2013 na cadea privada Antena 3.[2]
