HEG1 est un gène situé sur le chromosome 3 humain.

Rôles

La protéine transcrites est un mécanorécepteur qui joue dans l'embryogenèse cardiaque[5]. Elle est située sur les cellules endothéliales[6]. Elle est protectrice contre l'athérosclérose[7].

Chez l'être humain, son expression est diminuée en cas d'hypertension artérielle[8]. La délétion du gène entraîne une hypertension artérielle chez le rat[8].
