King George V -luokka oli Britannian kuninkaallisen laivaston taistelulaivaluokka, johon kuului neljä dreadnoughtia. Luokka seurasi Orion-luokkaa, jota se hieman suurempana muistuttaa.

Aseistus

King George V -luokan pääaseina oli kymmenen 13,5 tuuman Mk V tykkiä samoin kuin edeltävässä Orion-luokassa, mutta ampumatarvikkeet oli uusittu. Kranaatin paino oli kasvanut 1 400 paunaan 1 250 paunasta.

Apuaseina oli 16 BL 4 tuuman Mk VII -tykkiä, joiden sijoittelu oli uusittu, jotta tulta voitaisiin keskittää etusektoriin. Muina aseina olivat neljä kolminaulaista ja kolme 21 tuuman torpedoputkea.[1]

Panssarointi ja kansirakenteet

Panssaroinnin jakaumaa oli muutettu. Vedenalaista suojaa oli lisätty, vaikka suoja ei ollutkaan riittävä. Kylkien panssarointi oli 8–12 tuumaa ja kannen 1–4 tuumaa. Tykkitornien suoja oli 11 tuumaa ja apuaseiden suojana 3–10 tuumaa.

Masto oli siirretty myös savupiipun etupuolelle. Aluksen kansirakenteita muokattiin ensimmäisen maailmansodan kuluessa, esimerkiksi lisättiin lentoonlähtörampit lentokoneille.[2]

Voimanlähde

Aluksen voimanlähteenä neljä turbiinia, joissa 18 kattilaa. Koneiden turvin päästiin 21 solmun nopeuteen.
