Aalto-yliopiston urheiluseura

Polyteknikkojen urheiluseuran joukkue, joka voitti jalkapallomestaruuden 1909. Valtaosa pelaajista voitti samana vuonna myös jääpallomestaruuden.[1]

Aalto-yliopiston urheiluseura (AaltoUS, vuoteen 2010 asti Polyteknikkojen urheiluseura, PUS) oli vuonna 1903 perustettu urheiluseura. Seura oli helsinkiläinen ja toimi Aalto-yliopiston (vuoteen 2010 asti Teknillisen korkeakoulun) urheiluseurana. Lajeina olivat vuosien varrella muun muassa voimistelu, hiihto, luistelu, jalkapallo, futsal, koripallo, salibandy, lentopallo ja jääpallo.

Historia

Seuran nimi oli aluksi Polyteknikkojen voimistelu- ja urheiluseura, joka kuitenkin myöhemmin lyheni Polyteknikkojen urheiluseuraksi.

Jalkapallossa seura selvisi Suomen-mestaruuskilpailuissa vuonna 1908 loppuotteluun, jonka se hävisi Sportklubben Unitasille maalein 1–4. Seuraavana vuonna seura voitti SM-loppuottelussa HIFK:n lukemin 4–0.[2] Jääpallossa seura saavutti kaksi ensimmäistä Suomen mestaruutta vuosina 1908 ja 1909. Vuonna 1908 se voitti loppuottelussa HIFK:n 8–3 ja seuraavana vuonna lukemin 6–4. Vuonna 1910 seura ylsi hopealle, kun se hävisi loppuottelun IFK:lle maalein 4–12. Seura voitti myös yleisurheilun SM-kisojen yhteydessä pidetyn jalkapalloturnauksen vuonna 1907.

Pesäpallossa PUS osallistui 1930-luvulla moniin turnauksiin, esimerkiksi ”Pikkumailaan”, joka oli tarkoitettu 2-luokan joukkueille eli ei-mestaruussarjalaisille. Joukkue voitti turnauksen 1930 ja 1931. Myös akateemisen Suomen mestaruuden Teknillinen korkeakoulu onnistui joitakin kertoja voittamaan.[3][4] Amerikkalaisessa jalkapallossa seura tunnettiin nimellä Poli. Poli voitti lajin Suomen mestaruuden vuonna 1980. Amerikkalaisen jalkapallon toiminta eriytyi vähitellen omaksi urheiluseuraksi FT Scotchiksi.

Yhdistys purkautui 17. helmikuuta 2015.[5]
