Thomas Ridley Sharpe, Tom Sharpe bezala ezaguna, (Londres, 1928ko martxoaren 30a - Llafranc, Palafrugell, Girona, 2013ko ekainaren 6a) ingeles idazle ezaguna izan zen. Nobelagile, bere liburu gehienak umorekoak dira. Wilt pertsonai ezagunaren sortzailea da[1].

Biografia

1928an Londresen jaioa, bere haurtzaroa eta gaztaroa ezinegonak markatuta bizi izan zituen. Ama gaixorik zegoen eta ezin zen beraz gehiegi arduratu. Aita, aldiz, artzain anglikanoa, izugarrizko aldaketa ideologikoak eman zituen eta ziur aski hortik datorkio idazleari haren liburuen eduki azido eta eszeptikoa. Cambridgeko Unibertsitatean Antropologia ikasi zuen.[2] Soldaduska bukatu ondoren Hego Afrikara joan zen, 1951an.[3] Apartheidekin oso kritikoa, Pietermaritzburgoko espetxean sartu zuten, "iraultzaile" eta "komunista arriskutsua" izateagatik.[4] Akusazioen jatorria: Natal antzerki lana idaztea eta antzeztea. Deportatuta, Hego Afrikan bizi izandako esperientziez baliatu zen bere lehenengo liburu arrakastatsuak idazteko: Riotous Assembly (1971) eta Indecenten Exposure (1973). 1963tik 1972ra irakasle bezala Cambridgen aritu zen. 1986an Umore Beltzaren Sari Nagusia jaso zuen.[2] 1995tik Katalunian bizi zen, Gironako Llafranch herrian. 2013ko ekainaren 6an hil zen 85 urtekin; haren errautsak Palafrugell, Cambridge eta Sundelanden zabaldu ziren.[5]

Idazle kritikoa

Sharperen obra umore beltzaz zipriztinduta dago. Dena bihurtu daiteke bere kritiken helburua: Apartheid, hezkuntza sistema, Inglaterrako klase ertainetako snobismoa, muturreko politikariak, literatura mundua, sexua... Zalantzarik gabe bere pertsonai ezagunena Wilt da, zinemara Michael Tuchnerek 1989an eraman zuena. Bere pertsonaiak oso arruntak dira eta gertaera absurdoetan nahastuta bukatzen dira beti. Wilten abenturak gutxienez 22 hizkuntzara itzuli egin da.

Wilt euskaraz

2012an antzerkirako bertsio bat estreinatu zen Euskal Herrian, Wilt panpina puzgarriaren hilketa izenburupean. Lehenengo emanaldia Errenterian egin zen Ados Teatroa taldearen eskutik. Zuzendaria Garbi Losada izan zen. Musikak Joxan Goikoetxeak prestatu zuen. Lana Sharperen baimenarekin egin zen eta, antza, emaitza bere gustukoa izan zen.[6] 2010eko irailaren 21an Bilbon Barrea Saria eman zioten Tom Sharperi, Nazioarteko Umorezko Literaturaren Lehenengo Astean alegia.[7]
