Hi Cossie - yes the list is complete as far as wikipedia should be concerned. The only potential additions might be Corey Wilkes and Jaribu Shahid who joined the group for Non-Cognitive Aspects of the City if they ever become notable enough. I put all the roller skater categories back, because they should not have been emptied before being brought forward for deletion. That said, I have no particular interest in whether or not the categories are kept. So please feel free to bring them up for discussion again, as long as you don't empty them first. It appears that you recently tried to give David Becker Tribune a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into David Becker. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Greetings, I saw the series of chops you did on various reed organ articles today. I'm not thrilled that you did this without advance warning, no pinging involved authors, and the one single Talk page post you made was in reply to a 3 year old merge request.

I'd say this was inappropriate: even absolute worst-case scenario these articles were not so "wrong" that they needed to be urgently corrected. What would've been so bad about posting at each of the articles saying "here's my idea, what do you guys think?" Maybe post at the India and Musical Instruments wikiprojects to let folks know. User:Opus88888 created the Harmonium (hand-pumped) fork back in July without mentioning it to anyone, and that wasn't cool either, but neither is your undiscussed move. I'm considering just reverting all those changes back to the status quo ante until we can get some consensus for these moves. Any reason why I shouldn't just do that? Speaking procedurally, not in terms of "here's why Cosprings is correct musicologically". I just think this kind of extensive label tweaking of the reed organ family shouldn't be done by one person in one day without any discussion. Hi Cosprings. I note that you are getting a bunch of link-to-disambig-pages notices. Are you understanding about not linking to disambig pages? For instance, one would (basically) never put a link to (let's say) Sebastian Cabot in an article, since there are two Sebastian Cabots and so that link just takes the reader to a page that looks like this:

Sebastian Cabot may refer to:

Sebastian Cabot (explorer) (1476–1557), Italian explorer

Sebastian Cabot (actor) (1918–1977), British actor

which is seldom useful. Instead, you would want to write [[Sebastian Cabot (actor)|Sebastian Cabot]]. The first part (before the pipe character (the "|")) describes where the link goes; the second part (after the pipe character) describes what the user sees. (I use "where it goes - what it shows" as a mnemonic to remember which is which.) This way, the user still sees "Sebastian Cabot" but the link takes him directly to our page for Charles Sebastian Thomas Cabot, the actor.

If the name is extremely unusual (Mortomero Quisenberry, say) then probably there isn't a disambig page and you can just write "[[Mortomero Quisenberry]]". If the name is very usual (Ed Smith, say) then there most certainly will be a disambig page and you'll need to use write "[[Ed Smith (actor)|Ed Smith]]" or whatever. If it's in-between you'll have to check. Generally you should check by following the link yourself.

Hi,

Just wanted to call your attention to brand new topic Quarteto Novo and invite you to edit or change it, based on your interest in related articles about Brazilian musicians who were band members or collaborators.

Interestingly, no article existed for the band itself, so I just created one. It's based on the Portuguese version (my translation), adding some links and some categories suitable for English WikiPedia, and InterWiki links for the Languages section. I then back-tracked to articles about the band members and collaborators, and added inlinks to the new topic.

Since it's based on the PT article, which did not have a ton of references, neither does this version. That's a defect which should be fixed, and a lot of the claims made in the article should be checked out and either referenced, or removed (notably, the opinion stated in the last sentence of the article).

Feel free to have a look at Quarteto Novo, and help me improve it.

Hi mate! I changed your edit to the above for a couple of reasons. 1. I thought moving a controversy section to the lede might create some WP:WEIGHT issues in terms of content, even more so because that section is un-sourced (yep, need to fix that). 2. Because that section mentions a specific brand. In a topic area that is all about brands, including one particular one in the lede probably gives it more prominence that is justifiable.

All of that said, I have no problem with a summary of the controversy section being included in the lede. Well, let's think about this together.

It's my understanding that Kenton did indeed write those songs, and you're not contending that the info is false. Finding a source showing that Kenton wrote those songs should be fairly easy, using allmusic.om or whatever. I think that you should to that instead of removing the info. If you don't want to to that, tag the material with {{citation needed}} so someone else will. (I'm not going to do it because I no interest in Stan Kenton and don't consider the list problematical, You apparently do, so it's your job to fix the perceived problem by getting the sources, or tagging for later citation.)

In your edit summary you wrote "Kenton wrote 100s of songs. Removing unsourced section", so from the first sentence I infer that the real problem, to your mind, may be that the list is incomplete. The problem here is: well of course it is, and intentionally so: the sections begins with "Stan Kenton's compositions included..." (emphasis added). I'd say that we're allowed to survey a composer's complete works and list or mention those which are most notable or otherwise of special interest, and this is commonly done. Otherwise, we would be in position where we would only be allowed to list all of a composer's works or none of them. That would be highly idiosyncratic position to hold and one that few would agree with, I think. (Tagging the list with {{incomplete list}} would arguably be OK though, and you could do that if you wanted to I suppose, although it looks like the list is not intended to be exhaustive.)

If your issue is that the list should include a different subset of his work, that's reasonable and reasonable people can discuss this. If that's your issue you need to say so.

Wikipedia is not paper. There's plenty of room here. Deleting a partial list of a composer's work for idiosyncratic reasons, or for no reason, and edit warring over it is not going to get us where we want to go. There is a lot of unsourced material in the Wikipedia, and simply deleting material that is believed true is not helpful. Well, it depends on the case. In this case it's not helpful, I don't think. If there's reason to believe that material is false, that'd be entirely different. But you're not claiming that.

So if you're deleting that material simply because it's not sourced, that's overly pedantic and you should stop doing that. If you're deleting the material because of some idiosyncratic belief -- that all lists of works must be complete, or that there's too much info in Wikipedia articles generally, or whatever -- and just using lack of sourcing as an excuse, that's disingenuous and you should stop doing that. If there's some other reason, you should so state on the talk page and we can discusss it.

I reverted your deletion per WP:BRD. You should read that page and take it to heart, and you should not just restore your revisions again. That would be edit warring and is frowned upon. Take your case for deleting the section to the article talk page, and if you convince me and others of the propriety of the deletion, then we'll make it so. If not, then so be it. I have noticed a tendency for general and emotive criticism on Wikipedia as a whole, rather than a consistent practice of tackling specific issues that leads to nuanced and objective discussion. For example, a copy editor may use the phrase "skateboarding fan site" rather than raising concerns over particular wording or the tone of certain sections; that is, the implication has been that the person who is doing the criticizing is more concerned with the matter of skateboarding, rather than Wikipedia and how skateboarding is written about on the website. It may just be overtired editors who can't be bothered writing more than they need to, but I think we need to make that extra effort if we aspire to be worthwhile contributors. May I ask why you moved the list of deities back to the main article? For a long time, I was uncertain about whether to keep them together or separate them, but I leaned toward the latter because the list could grow really unwieldy. See this old talk page discussion for the problems with the list. I ended up splitting the two on the advice of the article's an experienced editor who reviewed the main article; see WP:Peer review/Ancient Egyptian deities/archive1. Not sure how many users are still active as normal Wikipedia editors but felt the need to attempt to get a gauge on who can be called on for help with articles falling under the umbrella of the African diaspora project. According to the project's article table there are over six thousand articles related to the African diaspora; there's not a hundred at FA/GA grade and there's over twelve hundred that are unassessed. With Wikipedia being one of the major information reference points in the world today we should consider this unacceptable. Much work needs to be done on the rating of the importance of articles as well.
