Botsvana pulası

Pula ya da uzun ismiyle Botsvana pulası (ISO 4217 kodu: BWP), Botsvana'da kullanılan resmî para birimidir. Gayrıresmî olarak Zimbabve'de de kullanılır.[DN 1][1] Tswana dilinde "pula"nın asıl anlamı "yağmur" ve para birimine bu isim verilmiştir çünkü çoğunlukla Botsvana'da bulunan Kalahari Çölü'nde yağmur çok nadir ve böylece değerlidir. Pula "lütuf" anlamına da gelir çünkü yağmur bir lütuf olarak sayılır.

Botsvana Bankası tarafından dağıtılır. Bir pula 100 thebe'ye bölünür (thebe "kalkan" anlamına gelir). Botsvana pulası aşağıdaki şekillerde dağıtılır:

  • Madeni para: 5, 10, 25, 50 thebe; 1, 2, 5 pula
  • Kâğıt para: 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 pula.

  1. ^ Hiper enflasyondan dolayı Nisan 2009'da Zimbabve doları belirsiz bir süre için kullanımdan kaldırılmıştır. Bunun yerine Amerikan doları, Güney Afrika randı, Botsvana pulası, İngiliz sterlini ve Euro gibi para birimler kullanılmaktadır. ABD doları, bütün hükûmet muameleleri için resmî para birimi olarak seçilmiştir.
