Sven-Göran «Svennis» Eriksson (1948–2024) var en svensk fotballtrener, sist som landslagstrener for Filippinene.[7]

I 1982 trente han IFK Göteborg til seier i UEFA-cupen, og i 2000 trente han Lazio til seier i Serie A og seier i cupvinnercupen. Han trente Benfica til tre seriegull i Portugal og var også trener for bl.a. klubbene Manchester City og Shanghai SIPG FC og landslagene England og Mexico.

Biografi

Han begynte karrieren hjemme i Sverige, han trente bl.a. IFK Göteborg til seier i UEFA-cupen i 1982, og for dette ble klubben tildelt Jerringprisen. Eriksson opplevde suksess med klubblag i Portugal og Italia. Hans største prestasjon som klubbmanager var å vinne den italienske Serie A med SS Lazio i sesongen 1999/2000. Dette var andre gang i historien at Roma-klubben vant det italienske mesterskapet.

23. januar 2006 ble det kjent at Eriksson ville slutte som engelsk landslagstrener etter VM-sluttspillet i Tyskland 2006.

Før sesongen 2007/08 ble Eriksson ansatt som ny manager i Manchester City. I mai 2008 ble han sagt opp fra jobben, selv om City hadde gjort det bedre enn på lenge. I juni 2008 fikk han jobb som trener for Mexicos landslag, og denne hadde han til april 2009, da han mistet jobben etter flere dårlige resultater, blant annet et tap for Honduras.

I juli 2009 ble Eriksson ansatt som sportsdirektør i Notts County som spilte i engelsk 4. divisjon, men dette engasjementet varte bare frem til midten av februar 2010, da han sa opp stillingen. Etter dette ble han ansatt som trener for Elfenbenskysten. Han slutta i jobben etter fotball-VM 2010.

Den 3. oktober 2010 ble Eriksson ansatt som ny manager i Leicester City, som på dette tidspunktet lå nederst i The Championship.

Eriksson har siden slutten av 1980-tallet samarbeidet tett med Willi Railo, en norsk professor i prestasjonspsykologi. Samarbeidet har blant annet resultert i boken Fotbollens insida: om det mentala spelet, fra 2000.[8]

Erikson døde 26. august 2024, 76 år gammel, av kreft.[9]
