Arthur Evans Moule (født 1836, død 1918) var en engelsk protestantisk Kinamisjonær og forsker.

Bakgrunn

Han var sønn av Henry Moule, anglikansk sogneprest i Fordington, Dorset, og ble utdannet ved Malta College og Islington Church Missionary Society College.

Misjonær i Kina

Han dro til Kina i 1861, der han kom i tide for å bli øyenvitne til deler av Taipingopprøret. Han arbeidet nær Ningpo i 1861-69 og 1871-76; i Hankow (der hans bror George Evans Moule i 1869 hadde grunnlagt den første China Inland Mission-residensen) fra 1876 til 1879; i Shanghai i 1882-94; og etter åtte år hjemme i USA, i Chekiang og Kiangsu fra 1902 til han pensjonerte seg i 1910. Han hadde vært Archdeacon i bispedømmet Mid-China i tredve år.

I 1890 var han en av grunnleggerne av The Permanent Committee for the Promotion of Anti-Opium Societies. De andre medlemmene av komiteen var misjonærene John Glasgow Kerr MD, American Presbyterian Mission i Kanton; B.C. Atterbury MD, American Presbyterian Mission i Peking; Henry Whitney MD, American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions i Foochow, pastor Samuel Clarke, China Inland Mission i Kweiyang; pastor Arthur Gostick Shorrock, English Baptist Mission i Taiyuan og pastor Griffith John, London Mission Society i Hankow.[5] De gikk inn for å be kristne i Kina for å mobilisere folkemeningen mot opiumshandelen, og opprettet etterhvert oppfølgingskomiteer slik at konferansevedtak fattet i sakens anledning ble virkeliggjort.

Han publiserte kristne traktater både på kinesisk og engelsk.

Hans bror, Handley Moule, var biskop av Durham 1901-1920. Hans sønn Arthur Christopher Moule ble også kinamisjonær og forfatter av verker innen sinologien.
