ドンカ・ステリアーデ

ドンカ・ステリアーデ（Donca Steriade, 1951年 - ）は、ルーマニア出身のアメリカの言語学者。専門は音韻論、音声学。1982年マサチューセッツ工科大学より博士号を修得した。博士論文は音節構造の研究で、後の生成音韻論に大きな影響を与える。カリフォルニア大学ロサンゼルス校での教職を経て、現在マサチューセッツ工科大学教授。

近年積極的に音韻理論に音声学的な知見をとりこむことを提唱しており、音韻論の新たな一分野を築き上げようとしている。具体的には、話者は聞き手が聞きにくいような対立を中和させる傾向があるということを指摘し、Licensing-by-cueやP-mapなどで知られる理論を提唱する。現在、これらの理論をもとにした理論的、実験的な研究が実験音韻論の分野を中心として進んでいる。また韻の研究などから音韻文法の研究をさぐるなど、大胆な理論・研究手法で知られる。研究分野は、音節構造、韻律音韻論、韻律形態論、韻の研究、促音の研究、音声学と音韻論のかかわり、音韻論と形態論の関わりなど多岐にわたる。

マサチューセッツ工科大学に移る以前はカリフォルニア大学ロサンゼルス校で教鞭をとっており、ブルース・ヘイズとともに、音韻現象を音声学的な立場から分析する博士論文を多く輩出した。
