Makai Lemon (Phoenix, 2 giugno 2004) è un giocatore di football americano statunitense che milita nel ruolo di wide receiver per i Philadelphia Eagles della National Football League (NFL).

Primi anni

Lemon nacque il 2 giugno 2004 e crebbe a Los Alamitos, in California.[1][2] Iniziò a giocare a football come ricevitore e fu uno stretto amico del quarterback Malachi Nelson, con il quale vinse il titolo nazionale di categoria.[3] Inizialmente frequentò la La Mirada High School, dove fece registrare 57 ricezioni per 784 yard e 5 touchdown nella sua prima stagione, oltre a 4 intercetti come defensive back in difesa.[4] Già durante la sua prima stagione ricevette la sua prima borsa di studio sportiva da parte dei Colorado Buffaloes.[5]

Dopo la sua prima annata, Lemon si trasferì alla Los Alamitos High School, dove incontrò Malachi Nelson.[3] Nella primavera del 2021 ricevette 43 passaggi per 756 yard e 9 touchdown, venendo inserito nella formazione ideale dello stato da MaxPreps.[6] Fece poi registrare 1.062 yard e 15 touchdowns nell’autunno del 2021.[7] Nell’ultima stagione ricevette 69 passaggi per 1.044 yard e 12 touchdown.[6]

Carriera universitaria

Nella sua prima stagione a USC nel 2023, Lemon giocò sporadicamente, ricevendo 6 passaggi per 88 yard.[8] Verso la fine della stagione giocò anche in difesa come cornerback a causa degli infortuni dei giocatori dei Trojans.[9] Nel 2024 Lemon disputò la sua prima grande partita contro i Rutgers Scarlet Knights, guadagnando 256 yard totali, segnando un touchdown.[10] La sua stagione si chiuse guidando la squadra con 52 ricezioni per 764 yard.[11]

Nel 2025 Lemon fu premiato unanimemente come All-American e vinse il Fred Biletnikoff Award, il secondo vincitore della storia dell’istituto dopo Marqise Lee nel 2012.[12] La sua stagione si chiuse con 1.156 yard ricevute e 9 touchdown.

Carriera professionistica

Lemon era considerato uno dei migliori ricevitori selezionabili nel Draft NFL 2026.[13] Venne scelto dai Philadelphia Eagles come ventesimo assoluto.[14] Il 1º maggio 2026 firmò ufficialmente il suo contratto da rookie, un quadriennale del valore di 20,8 milioni di dollari completamente garantiti.[15]
