תומאס נייגל (באנגלית: Thomas Nagel; נולד ב-4 ביולי 1937) הוא פילוסוף יהודי-אמריקאי, פרופסור אמריטוס לפילוסופיה ולמשפטים באוניברסיטת ניו יורק, שם הוא לימד מ-1980 עד 2016^[1]. תחומי העניין העיקריים שלו הם: פילוסופיה של הנפש, פילוסופיה פוליטית ואתיקה.

בתחום הפילוסופיה של הנפש, נייגל ידוע בשל ביקורתו את הרדוקציוניזם-המטריאלי של חקר התודעה, במיוחד במאמרו מ-1974 "איך זה להיות עטלף?" ("?What Is it Like to Be a Bat"), ניסוי מחשבתי פרדיגמאטי בתחום בעיית הגוף והנפש וחקר הקווליה. הוא המשיך ב-2012 את ביקורתו על הרדוקציוניזם "רוח וקוסמוס" ("Mind and Cosmos"), שבו הוא טוען כנגד הגישה הנאו-דרוויניסטית.

נייגל ידוע גם בשל הגותו המוסרית ותורתו הפוליטית הדאונטולוגיות-ליברליות, העולות בספרו מ-1970 "אפשרות האלטרואיזם" ("The Possibility of Altruism") ובכתבים אחרים.
