1976, daga tsohuwar yankin Yammacin Najeriya.[1] Ondo na da iyaka da jihar Ekiti (wanda a da tana cikin jihar Ondo ne) daga arewa, Jihar Kogi daga arewa maso gabas, jihar Edo daga gabas, Delta daga kudu maso gabas, Ogun daga kudu maso yamma sannan kuma jihar Osun daga arewa maso yamma sai kuma Tekun Atlantic daga kudu. Babban birnin jihar shi ne Akure, babban birnin masarautar Akure a da.[2] Ondo na da kasafin daji na mangrove-swampforest kusa da gasar Benin.[3]
Ana mata lakabi da "Sunshine State" wato "jiha mai haskakawa". Jihar Ondo ita ce ta tara a girma a Najeriya.[4] Kuma ita ce jiha ta ashirin da biyar 25, a fadin kasa.[5] Mafi akasarin mutanen garin yarbawa ne.[6][7] Akasarin mutanen garin yarbawa ne, a yayinda ake amfani da harshen yarbanci a garin. Albarkatun kasar Ondo ya ta'allaka ne a kan man fetur, noman cocoa, da makamantansu.[8] Inda tsaunukan Idenre suke, wanda shi ne tsauni mafi girma a yankin yammacin kasar Najeriya.
Tana da yawan fili kimanin kilomita murabba’in 15,500, da yawan jama’a miliyan uku da dubu dari hudu da arba'in (kidayar a shekara ta dubu biyu da shida 2006). Babban birnin tarayyar jahar shi ne Akure. Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, shi ne gwamnan jihar tun zaben shekara ta dubu biyu da sha daya 2011 har zuwa yau. Mataimakin gwamnan shi ne Agboola Ajayi. Dattijan jihar su ne: Yele Omogunwa, Robert Ajayi Boroffice da Omotayo Donald.
Akeredolu Oluwarotimi Odunayo daga jam'iyyar APC ne gwamnan Jihar Ondo wanda aka rantsar a ranar ashirin da hudu 24, ga watan Fabrairun shekara ta dubu biyu da sha bakwai 2017,[9] kuma ya karbi mulkin daga hannun Olusegun Mimiko.[10] Mataimakinsa shi ne Lucky Aiyedatiwa.[11]
