Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Autism
Coeliac disease is NOT within the scope of this WikiProject... right? The article for Coeliac disease (a Featured Article) has some nicely written but wholly irrelevant content on a relationship between gluten and autism spectrum disorder. The content acknowledges that this hypothetical relationship is not supported by science, but it fails to mention that its sources relate to non-coeliac gluten sensitivity and it seems pretty distasteful and weird to include it. The whole Coeliac article is listed as a Low-importance item within WikiProject Autism. I think this is not appropriate. If anyone knows how to get this article delisted from the project, I would appreciate it. The whole gluten-ASD thing has no page of its own on English Wikipedia but some low-quality content on it does exist in other articles such as Gluten and casein free diet and Gluten-related disorders. New article that might be of interest to this projectI just created Hyper-empathy. It seems that it is a concept discussed in relation to autism. It'd be great if people from this project gave it a look. Векочел (talk) 09:18, 10 August 2025 (UTC) Possible misinformation from the United States health secretary in SeptemberUnited States health secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has spread misinformation about the baseless link between vaccines and autism. He has described autism as a tremendous horror show caused by life-saving vaccines.[1] In the past, his spreading of this misinformation directly preceded a measles outbreak in Samoa that killed dozens of children.[2] Earlier this year, he promised to "solve" autism.[3] In September, he plans to announce his claims about autism while actual scientists are resigning and being fired from the CDC.[4] After the federal government made the purely linguistic change to use "Gulf of America" in place of "Gulf of Mexico", many editors turned up on the Gulf's talk page to demand a change. There is a real possibility that this could trigger or embolden efforts to push misinformation in Wikipedia's autism articles. Rjjiii (talk) 18:11, 30 August 2025 (UTC) |
