The Tesla Model Y L (stylised as MODEL Y//) is a long-wheelbase, three-row variant of the Tesla Model Y. It was officially unveiled on July 16, 2025, and is scheduled for release in China in the third quarter of 2025.[1][2] Deliveries commenced on September 2, 2025.[3] Differences compared to the standard Model YDimensionsAccording to filings with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China, the Model Y L has the following dimensions:[4][5]
Compared to the standard five-seat Model Y, the L variant is 179 mm longer, 44 mm taller, and has a 150 mm longer wheelbase.[1] WeightThe curb weight of the Model Y L is 2,088 kg, which is 96 kg more than the dual-motor AWD version of the standard Model Y. PowertrainThe Model Y L features dual electric motors: 142 kW on the front axle and 198 kW on the rear axle, offering a combined peak power of 340 kW (456 hp). The vehicle is all-wheel drive (AWD) and powered by ternary NMC batteries supplied by LG Energy Solution.[1] MarketAt launch in July 2025, the Model Y L was announced to be available only in the Chinese market. It is expected to compete with other extended-wheelbase electric SUVs in China, such as the BYD Tang L, AITO M9, Li L8, and Onvo L90.[1] In 2024, the Model Y was Tesla's best-selling model in China, with 480,309 units sold. However, sales declined by 17.5% year-over-year in the first half of 2025, following the release of the Model Y Juniper refresh.[1][6] DesignThe Model Y L features a unique "Model Y" badge with a stylized "Y". Tesla has shared official teaser images showing a longer side profile and new third-row seating configuration.[7]
