Songwa ist ein Verwaltungsbezirk (englisch Ward) des Distrikts Kishapu in der tansanischen Region Shinyanga.

Geografie

Songwa ist ein ländlicher Bezirk im Nordwesten von Tansania. Der Bezirk liegt rund 20 Kilometer Luftlinie nordöstlich der Regionshauptstadt Shinyanga.[2] Bei der Volkszählung 2022 lebten 6450 Menschen in 1189 Haushalten[3] auf einer Fläche von 49 Quadratkilometern.[4]

Der Bezirk grenzt im Südwesten an den Distrikt Shinyanga, im Süden an den Distrikt Shinyanga (MC) und sonst an Bezirke des Distrikts Kishapu:[5]

Infrastruktur

  • Bildung: Im Bezirk gibt es eine weiterführende Schule.[7] Die Songwa Secondary School ist eine staatliche Schule, die rund 100 Jugendliche bis zur 4. Stufe ausbildet (Stand 2023).[8]
  • Gesundheitseinrichtungen: In Songwa liegen ein staatliches Gesundheitszentrum[9] und eine staatliche Apotheke.[10]
  • Gebäude: Von den 1469 Gebäuden im Bezirk haben 152 einen Stromanschluss von Tanesco, 343 beziehen Strom aus anderen Quellen wie Solarzellen und Generatoren. 158 Gebäude besitzen einen Wasseranschluss (Stand 2022).[11]
  • Eisenbahn: In Songwa befindet sich ein Bahnhof der Bahnlinie Isaka-Mwanza.[12]
