Mkowe ist ein Verwaltungsbezirk (englisch Ward) des Distrikts Kalambo in der tansanischen Region Rukwa.

Geografie

Mkowe ist ein ländlicher Bezirk im westlichen Teil des südlichen Hochlands von Tansania. Er liegt rund 40 Kilometer Luftlinie südwestlich der Regionshauptstadt Sumbawanga.[2] Bei der Volkszählung 2022 lebten 21.290 Menschen in 4449 Haushalten[3] auf einer Fläche von 556 Quadratkilometern.[4]

Der Bezirk grenzt im Nordwesten an den Distrikt Nkasi und sonst an Bezirke des Distrikts Kalambo:[5]

Wirtschaft und Infrastruktur

  • Landwirtschaft: Im Bezirk werden 11.000 Rinder, 1.500 Ziegen und 5.000 Hühner gehalten.[7]
  • Bildung: Die Kalambo Secondary School ist eine staatliche weiterführende Schule. Sie bildet Tages- und Internatsschüler bis zur 4. Stufe aus.[8]
  • Gesundheit: In den Gemeinden Mkowe,[9] Mbuza[10] und Katapulo[11] liegt je eine staatliche Apotheke.
