Samhita

Samhita (Sanskerta: saṃhita, "kumpulan" atau "gabungan") dalam sastra kontemporer sering kali berarti satu bagian yang paling awal dan kuno dalam setiap kitab suci Catur Weda.[1] Dalam konteks ini, isi Samhita berupa himne atau mantra yang dinyanyikan pada saat penyembahan.[2]

Terkadang kata Samhita dapat mempunyai arti yang berbeda: dalam aliran Waisnawa juga dapat berarti literatur pelengkap dan dalam Ayrweda dapat mengacu pada sastra seni kuliner.[3]
