Penawar jambi (Cibotium barometz) adalah sejenis paku pohon yang telah lama dikenal sebagai tumbuhan obat. Ia dikenal pula sebagai paku gélang atau geylang^[1] atau paku simpai.^[2]

Tumbuhan ini berasal dari Tiongkok selatan hingga Sumatra dan Jawa Barat, melalui Semenanjung Malaya. Habitatnya adalah di hutan primer di daerah sejuk yang lembap dan di sana dapat tumbuh hingga 10 m. Entalnya dapat mencapai panjang 3 m. Letak sori berada di tepi lekukan anak ental.

Manfaat tumbuhan ini sebagai obat telah dikenal sejak lama. Rambut yang menutupi tangkai daun dan pucuk tumbuhnya diperdagangkan sebagai obat reumatik, pendarahan dan beberapa khasiat lain. Dalam pengobatan Tiongkok ia dikenal sebagai gou ji. Dari Indonesia, tumbuhan ini sekarang mulai dibatasi perdagangan ekspor ke Prancis dan Jerman karena populasinya semakin rendah.^[3] Tekanan terhadap populasi paku ini juga meningkat setelah ia dipopulerkan sebagai pakis monyet atau pakis bulu emas, padahal yang diperdagangkan adalah titik tumbuh yang tidak mungkin hidup.^[4] Paku ini sekarang masuk dalam Kategori B CITES.
