Ental

Ental adalah daun yang khas dimiliki oleh tumbuhan paku dari jenis pakis sejati (Filicophyta). Ental adalah daun yang tumbuh dengan proses yang khas tumbuhan paku: pucuknya tumbuh dari rimpang dalam keadaan tergulung ke dalam, sehingga berbentuk seperti ujung tangkai biola. Perlahan-lahan gulungan ini akan membuka ke arah punggung daun sampai akhirnya daun terbuka sempurna.

Ental, selain berfungsi sebagai organ fotosintetik seperti daun biasa, dapat berfungsi dan bentuknya termodifikasi menjadi sporofor yang secara fungsional dapat disejajarkan dengan bunga pada tumbuhan berbunga. Dalam keadaan demikian, ental dapat kehilangan fungsi fotosintetiknya sama sekali. Ental yang membawa spora akan disebut sebagai ental fertil atau ental subur sedangkan ental yang tidak membawa spora disebut sebagai ental steril atau ental mandul.

Kerabat paku, seperti paku ekor kuda atau paku rane tidak memiliki ental.
