PPII kembali berubah menjadi PTI.

Syekh H. Hasan Basri mengundurkan diri karena masalah kesehatan. Persatuan Tarbiyah Islamiyah berganti akronim dari PTI menjadi PERTI.

Kongres IV memutuskan PERTI menjadi partai politik.

  • Buya H. Rusli Abdul Wahid menolak hasil kongres dan menyatakan tetap sebagai Ketua Umum DPP PERTI. Hal ini menjadi awal terjadinya konflik internal dalam tubuh PERTI.

  • K.H. Rusli Abdul Wahid melakukan konsolidasi dan mengambil alih kepemimpinan PERTI secara penuh sebagai Rais 'Aam sekaligus Tanfidziyah.
