Bogomilisme adalah nama sebuah aliran yang muncul sekitar abad ke-8.[1] Bogomil merupakan sekte dari Abad Pertengahan yang coraknya dualistis dan doketis.[2] Cukup lama aliran ini mendapat dukungan di Bizantium.[2] Bogomilisme berasal dari kata bogomil.[2] Dalam bahasa Slavia artinya “Berkenan kepada Allah”.[1] Pendiri dari aliran ini diduga bernama Yeremias yang berasal dan Bulgaria dan seorang bernama Teofilus.[2] Bogomil sendiri adalah terjemahan Teofilus dalam bahasa Slavia.[2] Bogomil mengajarkan bahwa dunia dan tubuh manusia adalah ciptaan setan sedangkan jiwa adalah ciptaan Allah.[1] Anggota sekte ini membenci segala sesuatu yang berhubungan dengan barang-barang atau materi sehingga mereka menolak praktik-praktik penghormatan terhadap gambar atau ikon termasuk salib, baptisan air, baptisan bayi dan perkawinan.[2] Orang Kristen dianggap Kristen sejati bila berhasil menolak dan mengalahkan materi.[1] Selain itu, mereka juga menolak Perjanjian Lama secara keseluruhan dan hanya menerima bagian kitab nabi-nabi yang menunjuk pada Kristus dan Kitab Mazmur.[2] Sekte ini mengalami perkembangan pesat di Balkan khususnya Bulgaria.[2] Para penganut Bogomilisme mempunyai peran penting dalam kemunculan Albigensis.[2]
