Asghar Farhadi (bahasa Persia: اصغر فرهادی, pengucapan Persia: [æsɢæɾ ɛ fæɾhɑdiː]; kelahiran 7 Mei 1972) adalah seorang penulis latar dan sutradara film Iran. Karena karyanya sebagai sutradara, ia meraih sebuah Penghargaan Golden Globe dan sebuah Academy Award untuk Film Berbahasa Asing Terbaik, dan beberapa penghargaan lainnya. Ia dimasukkan sebagai salah satu dari 100 Tokoh Paling Berpengaruh di Dunia oleh majalah Time pada 2012.

Kehidupan dan karier

Farhadi lahir di Homāyūnshahr (Khomeyni Shahr), Provinsi Isfahan. Ia adalah lulusan dalam bidang teater, dengan gerlar sarjana dalam bidang Seni Rupa Dramatis dan gelar Master dalam bidang Penyutradaraan Panggung yang masing-masing dari Universitas Tehran dan Universitas Tarbiat Modares. Farhadi membiat film pendek 8mm dan 16mm di cabang Isfahan dari Perhimpunan Sinema Pemuda Iran, sebelum berpindah pada penulisan permainan latar dan permainan panggung pada IRIB. Ia juga menyutradarai serial TV seperti A Tale of a City dan bekerjasama menulis permainan latar pada Low Heights karya Ebrahim Hatamikia. Dancing in the Dust adalah debut film fiturnya,[2] yang ia susul dengan A Beautiful City.
