Thomas Joseph "Tom" McCarthy[1] (lahir 7 Juni 1966)[2] adalah sutradara film, penulis naskah, dan aktor Amerika Serikat yang tampil di beberapa film seperti Meet the Parents dan Good Night, and Good Luck, serta seri televisi seperti The Wire, Boston Public, Law & Order, dan Saint Maybe.
McCarthy mendapat pujian luas atas penulisan naskah dan penyutradaraan film independen The Station Agent (2003), The Visitor (2007), Win Win (2011), dan Spotlight (2015). Untuk Spotlight, ia mendapatkan nominasi Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay dan Academy Award for Best Director.
Selain itu, McCarthy turut menulis naskah film Up (2009) bersama Bob Peterson dan Pete Docter. Mereka mendapat nominasi Academy Award kategori Best Original Screenplay. McCarthy juga menulis naskah film Million Dollar Arm (2014).
