Karaköprü, Şanlıurfa iline bağlı bir ilçedir.

Tarihçe

2 Kasım 1991 tarihinde belediye statüsü alarak beldeye dönüştü.[2] 12 Kasım 2012'de TBMM'de kabul edilen 6360 sayılı kanun ile ilçe oldu.[3] Şanlıurfa'nın yüksek binaları bu ilçede yer alır. Şanlıurfa'nın en kalabalık dördüncü ilçesidir.

Karaköprü ilçesi, nar yetiştiriciliğiyle de ünlüdür. Belediye'nin, türkülere de konu olan ve Şanlıurfa'nın önemli tarım ürünleri arasında yer alan meşhur Karaköprü narı için Türk Patent ve Marka Kurumuna yaptığı tescil başvurusu 2018 yılında onaylanmıştır.[4] Ayrıca, ilçenin sembolü haline gelen narı anıtlaştırmak amacıyla ilçe merkezine bir nar heykeli dikilmiştir.[5]
